What preparation level are you quoting? There is a published scale for it, from Level 1 to Level 4, and if an estimate does not identify one then the standard assumes Level 2. Ours identifies it surface by surface, in writing, before you sign.

Each one has its own page with the full process on it, because "we prep properly" is a claim and the detail is what makes it checkable.
Interior Painting
Walls, ceilings, trim, doors and stairwells, plus the drywall repair and texture matching that has to happen first. All substrates must be sound before painting, inside as much as out. So we move and cover furniture, mask floor to ceiling, and fix the surface before the first coat rather than hoping paint will hide it.

Exterior Painting
Siding, trim, soffits, decks and doors. Every project starts with a mild Jomax and bleach solution to kill mold, mildew and organic buildup, so there is a clean and stable foundation before anything else happens. Then the hours go into scraping, sanding, feathering and repair. All substrates must be sound before painting, and soft or rotten wood gets replaced rather than patched over.

Drywall Repair & Texture Matching
A patch that is flat and a patch that is invisible are two different jobs. We do a lot of this work: nail pops, corner bead, water damage, doorknob holes, and whole sections re-textured to match orange peel, knockdown or a hand texture somebody applied in 1974.

Cabinet Refinishing
A fraction of the cost of new cabinets, and done properly nobody can tell the difference. Doors and drawers come off and get sprayed flat, boxes are masked in place, and hardware goes back exactly where it came from. Cabinet doors are millwork, so they get the Level 3 or 4 preparation every time.

Pressure Washing
Siding, driveways, patios, decks and fences. We match the pressure to what the surface can take, and use a mild detergent so the mold and mildew spores are killed rather than just moved somewhere else.

Window Cleaning
Interior and exterior glass, screens, tracks and sills. The step most painters skip, and the one that makes the whole house look new.

Gutter Cleaning
Cleared by hand, bagged, then flushed to confirm the downspouts actually run. Blocked gutters are how good exterior paint jobs go bad.

Concrete Grinding, Staining & Epoxy
Patios, walkways, garage floors, shop floors and basements. Concrete is the least forgiving surface we work on, because a coating or a stain goes down over whatever the slab is doing underneath and there is no second chance once it has cured. So the grinding and the moisture reading come first, and the finish gets chosen after them rather than before.

Over twenty years on job sites you end up working next to a lot of trades, and you find out fairly quickly which ones do it properly. We are partnered with a number of companies we would use on our own houses.
So if your project needs something outside our list, ask. Getting pointed at somebody good costs you nothing, and it is a great deal better than picking the first result and hoping.
